Weekly Fresh Start
An optional weekly reset for the screen-time wallet. Some families bank minutes week to week. Some want every Monday to start clean. This makes it a choice, one setting, per family.
Off unless you turn it on
Minutes that were earned stay in the wallet until they are used. That stays the normal way the app works. A fresh start is something your family chooses, on the caregiver's Rewards screen:
Pick the evening the wallet settles to zero. You always see the number first, and you do the tap. Nothing clears on its own.
Every day of the week is available. The chips above just show a few. Both caregivers in the circle share the one setting: it is a family rule, not a per-person one.
How a fresh start evening goes
Only arrives when the wallet holds anything. Skipping a week is fine, the nudge is just a nudge.
Anything you approve after settling starts next week's wallet. Approve first if it should count for this week.
Settle to zero Not tonightWallet settled. Jack starts Monday at zero.
Changed your mind? Undo is right there, like any reward marked used.
What Jack sees
Monday morning his wallet reads zero, and every approval you make adds to it in front of him. His "earned this week" line grows Monday through Sunday, so the week is a fresh page he can watch fill up.
One tip that makes this work as a motivator: approve his things as they come in during the week rather than saving them for one weekend batch. Minutes only land in his wallet when you tap approve, so batch approving means his wallet sits at zero all week even while he is doing the work.
A family choice, said honestly
The minutes in the wallet were earned. A fresh start clears the ones that did not get used, and that is a real trade: a clean, predictable week in exchange for letting unused time go. Neither answer is wrong, which is exactly why the app will not choose for you.
What makes it fair is that everyone knows the rule. Worth a two-minute talk so the reset is something Jack expects, not something that happens to him. And if a week ends with a big chunk unused, you can always let him use it before you settle, or just skip that week.
The fine print
Cleared means cleared. Settled minutes do not come back later. The record keeps them as history (they were earned and they count toward his story), but the wallet starts over.
Order matters on settle night. Approvals made after you settle count for the new week. The settle screen shows what is still waiting so you can approve first.
Nothing is ever automatic. No timer empties the wallet. Every settle is your tap, with the number in front of you, and it can be undone right after.
The nudge needs notifications on. Without them the settle button still works any evening, you just will not get the reminder.
Screen time only. Money and other reward styles never reset. This applies to circles where a caregiver backs a screen-time wallet.
It arrives with an app update. Until then, the by-hand version works today: on his phone, Rewards, "I used these", the whole number.
